GRANDE SEMAINE D'AVIATION
DE LA CHAMPAGNE 1909

100 years
Celebration

Reims : first
runway to stars

An exceptional airshow
26th -28th June, 2009

The 2009 Airshow in Reims (France) will be more than a show. It will revive the "Great Aviation Week in Champagne" in 1909.
The first International Airshow was a tremendous popular success. The Grande Semaine d'Aviation de la Champagne witnessed a complete array of the newly born French and foreign aeroplanes twirling in the Champagne sky: races, flight presentations... Within one week, aviation had become a sport and a spectacle with its records and its heroes.

In 2009, we would like to restore the pioneers spirit in our minds through the flight presentations of original aeroplanes (Blériot, Antoinette, Curtiss), but also and above all create a lavish show with acrobatics, warbirds, aerobatic teams...

In 1909, the British press titled " A spectacle such as has never before been witnessed in the history of the world ". We will do everything we can so that this 2009 celebration will a worthy heir of its famous ancestor...

The Airshows and Events Committee

Presentation of Committee

At a time when the flying hours are expensive, it is essential to make every effort to maintain the passion for aeronautics of young people and quite simply the tradition founded by our pioneers, the aces of aviation. The year 2009 will mark the Centennial of a fabulous year. It is time to set to work...
Also, to match the Brits' passion for the Airshows visited each year at Duxford, Fairford, Biggin Hill by hundreds of thousands of young and old enthusiasts, the Aero-Club de France Airshows and Events Committee focuses on one target: it wishes to awaken traditional French aeronautics, to restore the glitter and the "glamour" of the "airshows" on the other side of the channel.

The Airshows and Events Committee believes in the topic of the event, a promising ingredient of success for the airshows, which may be a historical fact, a local fact or a tradition directly related to the airfield on which the airshow takes place.
Endly, to make the Air Fête perfect, the Committee will see to it that flight safety and good practices of aeronautics are enforced. Concrete projects for the future are being studied by the Committee. All the Aero-Club de France members are welcome to work with us.
